We visited Lake Dillon in November and were blown away by it’s beauty. It is one of our favorite places that we have visited in Breckenridge and as we were sitting there last time, I knew we would be back. I envisioned the kids in their swimsuits running into the water, splashing and laughing in the water that was once snow. We had to make it happen so it was on the top of our list to do while we were here.
Well, we made it happen and what made it even better than I could have imagined was that their cousins were here to experience it with them.
We made the short hike along the lake and arrived at this magical place.
It took me a few minutes to get my bearings. I could not figure out if we were in the same spot as last time or if we had found a new place to explore. We realized that we were in the same general area but what we remembered about this spot, the rock covered beach with big boulders to sit on, were actually covered by water.
It did not take the kids long to ask for their swimsuits so they could get in the lake. I’m honestly surprised they even took the time to ask for swimsuits because they were so excited.
The water was not as cold as I expected it to be but it was definitely chilly when you first got in. The younger ones lasted a bit longer than the older boys but everyone loved it.
We had this little beach to ourselves and it was wonderful. I still can’t get over how quiet it was. The only sounds we heard were those of our children having a great time.
We spent a few hours out there but I felt like this just wasn’t enough time. We have a few more days left here and I am hoping we can get out there to catch a sunset because I have a feeling that would be unreal.
