Do they hand out A’s for effort when it comes to hiking? If so, then this crew that attempted the hike around Hoosier Pass definitely deserves one because we really did want to complete it.
We started this hike later in the day than we usually do and most of us were still pretty tired from the birthday celebrations from the day before so we weren’t functioning at our highest levels. If we had been, I would have remembered to pack extra clothes or dress the kids in layers. This was the first time in all of our hiking adventures that I did not dress us appropriately.
This hike starts above tree line which means the views are incredible and it’s suppose to be a relatively easy 3 mile loop. Since we got started late I knew the chance for an afternoon shower to rollin was high. We hiked for about 20 minutes and the kids started to get cold. The wind was blowing hard and soon after it started to sprinkle on us. The adults made the decision to turn around and head back.
While the hike didn’t go as we planned, we were treated to some incredible views and we were outside so that is still a win for us. I would love to complete this hike the next time we are here because I know the views only get better.
And because a photo session with the Gochneaur’s is always entertaining, here are some photos from our birthday celebration for my nephew.
