Once we left Grand Lake we headed back to Breckenridge for a few days. We mostly relaxed because we knew once we got home it was back to the grind but we did get out for one last short hike. We decided to do the Iowa Hill trail that we heard was great for kids.
This trail is an 1800’s placer mine site so it was really educational for the kids and us adults. There were interpretive signs along the trail that gave more information on the relics that were still there. It made the trail more interesting and the kids were excited to see the next “old mining stuff”. This trip they were all about gold and panning for gold so this was the perfect hike for them to see how miners actually panned for gold in the 1800’s.
This trail isn’t long at all and it took us about an hour because we took our time. I’d recommend it for anyone with kids or if you just want an easy, quick hike.
This was the longest amount of time we have spent away from home but the time went by incredibly fast. Almost 4 weeks away from home felt like a couple of weeks. We love this state though and it seems like we can never get enough time here. I guess that means we just need to visit more often. This trip did us alot of good. Our lives at the time were moving at a faster pace than ever and we were trying to keep up. We needed to slow down but we couldn’t. When we are in the thick of a busy season of life sometimes the only thing that can slow us down is getting away. This is something that we quickly figured out and can see when it’s time for a family reset. These trips bring us closer together and forces us to s l o w down to a pace of life that is manageable and healthy. They have become a part of who we are as family.
