What I am about to say, to some, could be cause for me to lose my Texan status but this is my space to be honest and in the interest of remaining true to that, I’m going to be honest.
I am not a fan of bluebonnet pictures. There I said it. Please do not pull my Texan status. I was born and raised in Texas. I wore cowboy boots and Wranglers (and Rockies for those of you who remember those) for part of my life. I have visited the Alamo and own numerous objects in the shape of Texas. I say y’all. I am a Cowboys fan for goodness sake. I’m pretty darn Texan. BUT I just have never been able to get into the bluebonnet pictures. I know it’s a popular thing to do and I love looking at other people’s pictures. I think they are beautiful and I love driving down the road and seeing these huge open fields of bluebonnets, some of them seem to never end and the way the blue sky sits above them makes it seem as if it’s a sea of bluebonnets but I haven’t ever felt inclined to take pictures in them. Plus, I hear snakes like to hang out in those fields and me and snakes do not mesh well.
One of my goals this year was to challenge myself to do things that I normally would shy away from, to get out of my comfort zone and learn from these new experiences. One are I really wanted to challenge myself in was photography. So, as Olivia and I were driving home one evening, right at golden hour, I saw this little field of bluebonnets on the side of the road. I asked her if she wanted to take pictures quickly and she said sure so I made a U-turn, we hopped out and I take a few pictures right there in a place I never imagined I would.
So can I still keep my Texan status?
